Do I need to use the WinTCT software to use the Traffic Counter Tester?
No. The Traffic Counter Tester (TCT) comes preloaded with the Federal Highway Administration's Scheme F vehicle classification table. Unless you have a specific classification scheme other than Scheme F that you would like to use, you do not need to use the WinTCT software. The TCT also comes with three preloaded default tube length settings of 4, 8 and 16 feet. Unless you need to use a tube length other than these, you do not need to use the WinTCT software.

What units can the TCT be used to test?
The TCT will simulate an pulse to an automatic traffic recorder as if it were setup in the field and should work with any recorder that uses road tubes for input.

The results that are appearing on my recorder do not match what the TCT is sending out. Why?
There may be several possible reasons for this. First, double check how you have setup the TCT to be sure your test tubes are the proper lengths. Also, check the Output dial setting. This should be set between 3 and 5 for most recorders. If you setup appear correct, try testing another recorder. If its results are correct, there may be a problem with the original recorder.
